The future accession of Serbia to the European Union is of vital importance not only for the Western Balkans region (in which Serbia has a prominent position), but also for the whole Europe. Truth be told, the expansion of the European Union is a matter of EU politics and, at the same time, a powerful instrument for fostering political stability, safety and economic growth. Serbia has already come a long way down this path of achieving full membership in the European Union. However, the expansion of the European Union is not just a matter of political decisions. For successful integration of Serbia into all structures of the European Union, it is crucial that all citizens of the Republic of Serbia fully understand what the processes of stabilization and accession really mean, and what the future role of their country in the European Union will bring.

The goal of the course is to enable all course attendees to grasp all the previously mentioned concepts as key elements of the process of Serbia’s accession to the EU.
